Phase Change Materials

Phase change materials are everywhere.

Substances that store and release large amounts of latent energy to hold a target temperature for hours — without batteries, refrigerants, or active control.

How PCM works.

A phase change material absorbs and releases thermal energy to maintain a regulated temperature. As ambient temperature rises, the PCM melts and pulls heat out of the surrounding environment.

When ambient temperature falls, the cycle reverses: the PCM solidifies and releases stored energy back, keeping the protected payload within its target window.

Why it matters.

PCM enables passive thermal management across thousands of products — from pharmaceutical shippers and electronics to apparel, building envelopes, and renewable energy systems. The right formulation, delivered in the right format, can dramatically reduce energy consumption, packaging waste, and product loss.
